Rigid versus pivoting mounting
Unlike horizontal applications, where a pivoting end connector absorbs small misalignments, we usually recommend rigid mounting for vertical hanging chains. This prevents the chain from swaying during starts and stops. Use so-called KMA end connectors (Plastic-Metal-Attachment) for this, which position the chain stably relative to the wall or mast.
Crucial strain relief
In a vertical carrier, gravity pulls the flexible cables downwards. Without proper strain relief, this entire weight hangs on the connectors or terminal strip. Furthermore, cables can 'sag' in the bend, causing them to rub against crossbars and wear. Use robust U-clamps or block clamps that firmly fix the cable sheath to both the upper and lower end connectors.
Support and guidance
For strokes longer than 5 metres or accelerations above 10 m/s², the cable carrier must be supported laterally. This can be done with a U-profile or simple guide plates. Ensure the chain can 'breathe' freely on the 'back side' (the outside of the bend) and does not get jammed. In standing vertical applications, support against buckling is mandatory once the chain height exceeds 20 times the link width.

- No, the bend radius must also be respected vertically. If the chain sags or deforms, you must choose a larger radius or a more stable series.
