Which NW suits three 10 mm cables?

Three times 10 mm gives a 30 mm bundle; at factor 1.4 that is about 42 mm, so NW48 in plastic. For a fixed installation NW36 can be enough.

Can conduit run inside a cable carrier?

Better not. It raises fill and friction. Lay the cables loose in the carrier with separators and use conduit only outside the carrier.

What is split conduit?

Conduit with a lengthwise slit so it can be wrapped around an installed bundle. Handy for maintenance and retrofit, but slightly less sealed than closed conduit.

What temperature can conduit take?

PA6 runs to around 105 °C continuous with short peaks near 150 °C; PA12 to about 90 to 105 °C but stays more flexible in the cold. Near sparks or radiant heat we advise heat protection as an extra layer.

Choosing the NW size

Conduit is designated by a nominal width (NW) that roughly matches the inner diameter. Add up the outer diameters of all cables, multiply by 1.3 to 1.5 if the bundle moves or gets pulled, and take the next NW above that. Oversized conduit rattles and abrades from the inside; undersized conduit makes pulling nearly impossible and sharply raises bending force.

PA6 or PA12: the two materials

Our protection conduit comes in two materials. PA6 is the standard: tough, impact resistant, resistant to oil and coolant, and rated roughly -40 to +105 °C continuous with short peaks near 150 °C. PA12 is the premium grade with better chemical and hydrolysis resistance, staying flexible down to about -60 °C, and is the choice for outdoor use, frequent cleaning agents or damp environments; continuous to about 90 to 105 °C. We do not stock other materials: in practice these two cover almost every industrial application.

Applications

Conduit is used on fixed cable runs in machines and enclosures, on robots and handling axes, in machining where chips and coolant fly around, in packaging and food machinery for its cleanability, and outdoors on cranes and installations exposed to UV and weather. Use the closed version on fixed runs and the split version to retrofit an installed bundle.

Terminating and fixing

Always terminate conduit with a matching conduit fitting, never with tape or a cable tie. The fitting takes the pull and maintains the enclosure rating. Fix long runs with clips at regular spacing so the conduit does not sag and load the cables at one point. At corners use an elbow instead of forcing the conduit.

Conduit and movement

For continuous, fast travel a cable carrier is the better answer: it guides the cables at a fixed bending radius. Conduit may move, but it must run freely and should not be carried inside a cable chain. Inside a chain it adds friction and fill, shortening the life of both.
