Heat protection

Heat resistant sleeves and cuffs up to 260 °C.

Heat protection keeps cables, hoses and sensors serviceable near moulds, welding robots and furnaces. Continuous temperature and peak temperature are the two figures that matter; the inner diameter then decides whether the sleeve still fits over the existing bundle.

All about heat protection

Technical guidance from our engineers: how to choose, what to measure and where installations fail in practice.

Continuous versus peak temperature

Two figures drive the choice: the temperature the sleeve must withstand permanently and the peak that may occur briefly, for example from molten metal splashes or welding sparks. Work with the temperature at the cable, not the furnace temperature, and account for radiant heat: 30 cm from a mould, radiation is often more decisive than air temperature.

Designs: sleeve, wrap or tape

A braided sleeve slides over a new bundle before the connectors are fitted. A wrap-around sleeve with hook-and-loop or clips mounts around existing wiring without dismantling — the practical choice for retrofits. Aluminium-coated versions reflect radiant heat; silicone-coated and glass-fibre versions cope better with splashes and mechanical load.

Inner diameter and installation

Measure the outer diameter of the complete bundle including any protective hose and choose the next inner diameter above it; heat protection that is too tight compresses the bundle and actually worsens heat dissipation. Extend the protection well past the heat source and fix it with heat-resistant tapes or clips, not plastic cable ties.

Frequently asked questions

The questions our technical desk receives most often about this category.

How do I choose the right size of heat protection?

Start with the fill: the thickest cable sets the minimum inner height, the sum of all diameters plus 10% clearance sets the inner width. Then pick a bend radius of at least ten times the thickest cable diameter. Filter on those three values on the left and only suitable articles remain.

What is the lead time and when do you ship?

Articles marked 'in stock' ship the same working day when ordered before 15:00 CET. Articles 'on request' are made to order at the manufacturer; the lead time is stated in the quotation, typically 5 to 15 working days.

Do I get technical documentation and CAD files?

Yes. Every article lists a datasheet, a manual and a STEP file for your 3D model. All are free to download, no account required.

Are the prices volume prices?

The price shown is per unit. From the indicated tier quantity onwards the lower price applies automatically and is calculated in the cart. Use the toggle at the top to show prices including or excluding VAT.

How do I choose between continuous and peak temperature?

The continuous rating must always exceed the local operating temperature; the peak value is meant for short events such as splashes or sparks. Never design on the peak value alone — the material will harden or discolour within months.

Can heat protection be fitted around existing wiring?

Yes, choose a wrap-around sleeve with hook-and-loop or clips. It installs without dismantling connectors, also on existing machines and robots.
